Rugged terrain. The view is amazing once you get to the top. The last half hour before reaching the top is killer!
Nice trail with good views at the top. I must have looked like a mad man going up because the mosquitos had me walk/running/flailing around to reach the top. BRING BUG SPRAY or face mosquito induced madness.
1.5 hour hike each way. Lots of roots and rocks to trek over. Not too difficult without a pack and water. 3 hours round trip. Some amazing views at the top. Really happy I decided to drive further north to hike to Minnesotas highest peak.

With relief, I disembarked from my vehicle - A 2004 Buick LeSabre, and stepped out into this parking area, so full of potential and ambition. What would the day hold for me? Would the ascent go according to plan, or would mother nature take me over her knee and scold me for my hubris? I traveled with two companions, and we approached the trailhead in a frivolous mood - daring the perilous ascent to chasten us for our merriment. Then we climbed the mountain and it was pretty good.
