I have tried many resorts on the North Shore and The Gunflint Trail. I always come back to Heston's because they deliver the real "northwood's experience every time. The resort have everything from refurbished, authentic rustic cabins to more modern log cabins with all the amenities. The fact that they are located at the end of the county road and there are no snowmobile trails on the property assure me that I will only see and hear pure nature. I can ski, snowshoe or hike right out the back door connecting up to the Upper Gunflint Trail System and the Border Route Trail. In the summer, you have Gunflint Lake connecting on both ends to the BWCA. I'm always dreaming of my next adventure up there!

Have stayed many times. Am hesitant to endorse as others will find out about this hidden gem, but feel it is only fair. Beautifully situated cabins on Gunflint Lake, which is on the boundary of Canada. The lake is magnificent. Great fishing, hiking, berry-picking, boating and canoeing. The best part of the stay is the resort owners. Greg and Barb are incredibly hospitable. Have talked with other guests, and we all feel that we have developed a personal (not just professional) relationship with these owners. Could not make a higher recommendation.
